What are cognitive exercises?
Cognitive exercises challenge your brain and help improve your cognitive function – things like memory, attention, problem-solving, and decision-making.
Memory games
Some popular memory games include memory cards with pictures or words, jigsaw puzzles, and word games like Scrabble and Boggle.
Problem-solving games
These games help improve your problem-solving skills, including Sudoku, crossword puzzles, and Minesweeper.
Dance or body patterns
Learning new steps, movements, or patterns requires the use of multiple cognitive functions because one must pay attention to their teacher’s body movements, their own movements, and find alignment with the music.
In addition to improving memory, learning new dances, steps, or patterns can help reduce stress because it helps to release the mood-boosting effects of endorphins!
My exercise classes are coordinated with music. This means they require brain and body coordination, which reduces the risk of falls and boosts confidence, too!
