Why Use a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) for HEALTH?
In this session of Habits of Optimal Health (video below), Catherine Staffieri from Nutrisense teaches me (Kathryn Eyring) how to use a CGM for optimal health – not just as a diabetic tool!
At the end of this video, you can watch me apply a continuous glucose meter to my own arm!
I’ll wear this CGM for 2 weeks so I can understand my own body better AND be a better Health Coach!
I will be experimenting with foods I don’t typically eat (sweets, desserts, and even some of what I call “junk”) and I’ll be able to show what’s happening to my blood sugar in real time so everyone else can learn through this, also!
I also want to see how often my blood sugar spikes when I’m eating my regular foods. As in the expression, “Test, don’t guess,” I’ll be learning a lot about my own body’s reactions over the next 2 weeks.

Catherine is an excellent teacher and she expertly explains how to use a CGM as a monitoring tool to avoid high blood sugar spikes or low valleys. She emphasizes the importance of stabilizing blood sugar levels to minimize inflammation and the risk of diabetes or prediabetes.
CGMs aren’t just for diabetics anymore
Why should we have to get sick to get something that gives us real-time feedback on how we’re eating? It’s great to have feedback when making lifestyle changes! It’s practical to use a CGM for optimal health and it’s the perfect tool for continuous motivation!

For me, using a CGM is healthy fun and not too far from playing a game. I’m trying to get a 10 for my score with every drink, snack, or meal except when I “experiment” and then wow! It’s fascinating.
